Over-The-Counter Weight Loss Supplement – Are They Risky?
Being overweight is something that a lot of people have to deal with.
The seemingly never ending battle to get to the ideal size may be discouraging as well as unhealthy. There are a lot of weight loss supplements that can be taken to try to achieve the goal of a smaller waist line, but are they risky?
Paula de la Torre Editor of the “Best Weight Loss Programs” website — http://www.BestWeightLossPrograms.tv — pointed out;
“… Walk down the diet isle of any department store and you will notice that there are shelves upon shelves of weight loss supplements and diet pills. Everything from all pills to shakes, patches and drink mixes. Everyone claims that they have the right ingredient to help you lose the extra weight…”
So what are the risks of taking an over the counter weight loss supplement? Some digestive problems have been known to go along with diet pills, but since over the counter supplements are not regulated by the food and drug administration, there have been more reported side effects and risks involved with them like diarrhea, vomiting and gas.
Some other more serious risks include increased heart rate and heart palpitations as well as panic attacks and feeling as if you are having a heart attack. Insomnia can also occur when using an over the counter weight loss supplement.
One way to cut down or avoid side effects at all when using an over the counter diet supplement is to check with your doctor and know your medical history. Know what medications will not interact well with the new supplement. Another way to reduce the some of the risks involved from an over the counter supplement is to use an all natural substance like green tea, acai berry or resveratrol.
“… Green Tea, acai berry and resveratrol are all highly regarded for their anti-oxidant and cleansing properties. Green Tea also helps burn fat, acai berry is a good de-toxicant and is also good for increased energy levels. Resveratrol can help in increased metabolic rate…” P. de la Torre added.
Any diet and weight loss program and the supplements that go along with it can have some risks, but when using information on particular products, you will be able to minimize those risks.
